14th DGAP International Summer School on “A Climate of Conflict or Cooperation? Security
Implications of Global Warming”

This year’s Summer School will be devoted to an analysis of the impacts of
climate change, environmental degradation and resource scarcity on
societies in the Euro-Mediterranean region, with a special emphasis on
security-related issues. In addition to analysing patterns and processes of
climatic and environmental change, and discussing the effectiveness of
strategies and measures for mitigation and adaptation by various actors, the
Summer School aims to pay particular respect to aspects and possible
linkages of climate change, environmental degradation, development and
conflict.

What are the GreenGames?
The GreenGames take place in May 2010 near Berlin in Germany. It is meant for youth leaders, youth workers and youth trainers to learn and develop non formal and experiential education methods connected with environmental themes. During this training the participants will experience an ongoing process of discussion, sharing and experiencing the potential of these methods.

GetGreen Campaigning Training Course

We want to connect and inspire active volunteers in the Naturefriends network to combine experiential and non-formal education methods to develop a relationship with nature and environment in their youth work. We provide the participants with tools and methods for attractive and effective ways of training and campaigning on environmental issues. During the training courses the participants exchange develop methods for environmental education and campaigning that can be used in activities with e.g. local youth groups. The participants can bring this fresh knowledge and skills to their own organisation to motivate their local youth groups.

Aims and objectives:
By facilitating establishment of sustainable partnerships and projects development (European Voluntary Service, Youth Exchange projects and Training and Networking projects), the PBS has the following objectives :
- to explore quality aspects of sustainable international partnership and international youth projects
- to learn about the youth work realities in different countries/regions
- to reflect and explore possibilities of non-formal education activities within the Youth in Action Programme to support personal development of young people with fewer opportunities, democracy and civil society development in the neighbouring Partner Countries
- to support participants to identify and start projects development in the frame of the cooperation with neighbouring countries.

IUCN ENPI/FLEG Program – Opening for Research Organization

IUCN is announcing an opening for Research Organization for the study on the current use of certified/recycled paper in Georgia. The Study will be conducted in the framework of the regional program “Improving Forest Law Enforcement and Governance in the European Neighbourhood Policy East Countries and Russia” (ENPI FLEG).

About the Program: The ENPI FLEG program supports governments, civil society, and the private sector in participating countries in the development of sound and sustainable forest management practices, including the reduction of the incidences of illegal forestry activities. Participating countries include Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, and Ukraine. This program is funded by the European Union and is being implemented by the World Bank, WWF and IUCN.
